With so many great holidays to celebrate this time of year, there is one holiday in the bunch that will forever be my favorite– my anniversary! It’s the anniversary of my farewell from a high intensity career in dentistry. It has been 4 years, and it is so hard to believe that so much time has already passed. It’s fitting that it all came to fruition around Thanksgiving, because gratitude is the one feeling that never wavers. I know I made the right decision, and I’m so thankful those days are behind me. What does waver, though, is my perception of […]

This isn’t just some silly fight between two Jewish kids. I normally wouldn’t ever even call myself that, but there really is a guy who calls himself The Fat Jew. And I’ve got a bone to pick with him. He doesn’t even know who I am, and until last week I didn’t know who he was. So it can’t be a real fight between us. Instead this is a battle of principles. It’s more about what we each represent. This is one bandwagon I will gladly jump right on. Last week I was put on the defensive in a big […]
I need your help, but I should start by apologizing. I’m sorry I tricked you, but I was desperate to get your attention. My husband was not on Ashley Madison, but this does kind of, sort of have something to do with Ashley Madison. Instead of spending hours searching for my friends’ husbands on there (my husband would never do that,) I’m using that precious and otherwise productive, time to write this blog post that I really don’t want to write. Calling all bloggers and anyone else who uses the internet. I really need your help. No, YOU need your […]
Today’s post is a little different. Last week I had to say goodbye to my dog, and I’m crushed. Nothing can prepare you for the loss of a loved one. It’s so permanent. No matter how much you want to change things, you can’t. It just feels like a heavy weight crushing down on your chest. And you can’t think or focus. You just sit in silent disbelief replaying how it all went down.Ruby was my husband’s dog. I met her when she was 3, and I’ve always thought we had a cute little story.
Have you ever noticed how sometimes the most simple discussions can bring about the most unexpected moments of clarity? While hanging out with a friend a few weeks ago, he reminded me of an old memory we shared. He is a high school teacher, and several years ago he had a student in his class with very bad teeth and very little money. She needed serious help, and he felt so strongly about helping her, that he paid me to do her dental treatment for her. As we reminisced about how amazing that story was, I realized that I had […]
Do you ever think that when things are going great in life, they are bound to take a turn for the worse? That you’re just waiting for the other shoe to drop? Or that things have been going way too smoothly, so surely it has to get difficult soon? I used to kind of worry about that. Whenever life seemed perfect without any challenges sprinkled in, I anticipated a storm was to follow. Not only did I believe that I shouldn’t expect things to continue getting even better, but I assumed that good times were absolutely destined to be followed by […]
How’s your luck? For years I believed that I had bad luck. It was true. I never won anything. Whenever there was a drawing or a lottery, my name was never drawn. It seemed like the same lucky people always won over and over. When I was 8 my sister won a highly coveted Cabbage Patch Kid on the Point Pleasant boardwalk by placing her $1 bet on the word “son” on the roulette wheel. The very next round I wanted to place the same bet but was talked out of it because it would never hit again. Guess what […]
Isn’t that just the best? I have always resisted making bucket lists because they felt like New Year’s Resolutions to me. I figure, why do I need either when I live my life the way I want (almost) every day? Though I don’t have a bucket list, I do have a reverse bucket list. If you’re wondering what that means, well, I simply acknowledge my bucket list-worthy experiences after they happen. I do it because when I celebrate and feel thankful for the good things that happen, more good things happen.
I recently revealed how this contest junkie finally won a contest, and now you get to see what the Reflect Your Youth contest is.The brains behind the campaign (the lovely and talented Chelsea) knew that our product has what it takes to differentiate our product from the rest, and she wanted to do just that. In many industries it is a widely known practice that companies use stock photos of models in their marketing materials. Since our product is so effective and has a track record for demonstrating real results, she had the vision that a real campaign with real […]
Yeah, you heard me right, I entered another contest. After I told myself I was done, I went and did it again. And since I know you’ve been on the edge of your seat in suspense, I’ll cut straight to it… I finally won! I’ll get to the actual contest in a minute. First, the journey to get there is fresh on my mind. A while back I discovered a book called The Slight Edge by Jeff Olson. I loved it so much that I dedicated a blog post to it. I’ve never read another book that so convincingly and […]
