Many of us graduated dental school thinking the only way to be a dentist was to have your own private practice. With practice ownership, you get to have all the control, make all the important decisions, and be the one in charge. However, with practice ownership, you have to have all the control, make all the important decisions, and be the one in charge. That responsibility isn’t for everyone.
More and more, we are starting to see that dentistry doesn’t have to be a one-size-fits-all profession.
Today so many young dentists are finishing school with massive debt, that they don’t want to incur more. Becoming an associate makes more sense. When it comes to the content out there, most of it is geared towards practice owners. Until today… now there is a podcast for the rest of us. And that’s exactly what it’s called!
Created by Dr. DP Harris, Dentistry for the Rest of Us has a bold mission. Dr. DP wants “to help you navigate early career decisions to help you build career capital, improve your personal wealth, health, and culture when you are not the owner doctor.” That also includes hygienists, dental assistants, and the front office team.
Dr. Harris has a nice, relaxed style, thoughtful insights, and she is a great storyteller! And she has great taste in guests. *wink wink* You know where this is going… I was recently interviewed on this wonderful podcast.
So check it out! In the episode we discuss the signs of burnout, the importance of community, and how to course-correct towards a sustainable path where you can apply your skill set within and/or outside of dentistry.
You can find it here on her website.
