This week my guest comes all the way from Hong Kong! I’m excited to feature CT, another former dental student, who is here to share her amazing story.
Throughout her life, CT always dreamed of becoming a doctor. Because of the way a degree is chosen in Hong Kong, she found herself going into dentistry instead of medicine. After completing three years of a six-year dental program, she considered quitting dental school and discovered she had to make a change.
While it seemed like quitting dental school was not an option, something told her that it was the only option.
After struggling with depression and even being terrified by an occasional suicidal thought, she knew she had to do something. Luckily CT shared her feelings with friends and one teacher in particular who helped her realize she could change course. She chose to work with a counselor, who helped her gain the courage and the insight to take action.
CT’s story is an amazing reminder that there is a difference between facing challenges and recognizing when a challenge is too much and is tearing you apart. Now that she studies what she loves, she recognizes there are still challenges and hard times, but she never feels like the failure she felt in dental school.
Listen to her story and hear how she overcame everyone’s expectations to stay in dentistry in order to choose her own path.
